I dislike being poor, for being poor as caused me to have to sell all of my DVD’s. Now, it’s not the fact that I am selling my DVD’s in particular that bothers me. Nay, it’s the fact that 95% or more of these DVD’s are of films or tv shows that I enjoy watching on a semi regular basis. Therefore, I am burning copies of all of them, which is taking up all of the time for the computer and not allowing me any time to color lately. I have a lot of images to finish, and a lot of new ones to scan in. I have somewhere around 90 character designs to color, and somewhere around a total of 240 to do altogether. I’m way behind, but that’s what happens when you are the only one creating a monstrous project, and become anal with designing every little aspect of the past, present and future of the characters. Some of the characters that I have thought of will most likely show up once, and be there for a few pages then die, or disappear into a giant void. But, I want to design them.
Mainly this is because I have been coming up with character ideas non stop since I was in high school, and I have never really consolidated all of my ideas into one easy to manage compendium, and now I am doing that. It stems from a desire to stop saying to people that I have this idea for a character instead of being able to show them a character and saying here is this character concept. This is what they look like, and this is how they would act.
But alas, no finished projects for a while, not until this barrage of burning movies ends.

I have now re-added a good majority of my comic work to this blog. Just the stuff that I have the liberty to show. There is a project right now that is being sent around to potential publishers that I don’t really want to show here because I don’t want to jinx it because for the first time in a while, I actually feel good about a project.
Anyway, if for some reason you want to look at my other comic stuff, go click on the Comic Pages link up above.

I don’t have much of the graphic design work that I did when I worked at my graphic design job anymore. I did a bunch of business cards, flyers and stuff like that. Most of it is probably stuck on one of many back up hard drives that my old boss has, and they have all all most likely been reorganized so many times, and potentially even renamed, that trying to actually find that stuff, even for him, who did the organizing and renaming, would be a total nightmare. He was able to locate 1 of my old cards. He located a logo that I did as well, but the image size is so tiny that it doesn’t even count. Since I have been attempting to get myself into a graphic design position, the resume alone doesn’t cut it. Now I figure I could use this time of building up my portfolio as a means to an end. I have a crap load of characters for my comic book idea, and I always thought it was neat-o in Marvel or DC comics when a random character like, say, Longshot would show up in a story. When he showed up though, they didn’t just point and go, “Hey, lookee here, it’s Longshot…” No, they had the name all done up in his own logo. Didn’t matter that he either didn’t have a title of his own at the time, or never did…they still gave random characters logos.
Today, I bring you the logo for Maurice Bubonic. I have no plans to give him his own story, but he will appear in at the very least 3 different ideas.

Who happens to be this guy

I was trying to do something specific with letter warping in Illustrator. As I was working on it, this happened, and I like it. No clue if this logo will stick with the story or not, but we shall see. This is the second logo that I have created for this story, but the first one was way back when…at a point when the story was called Lizzie Graves vs. the World, but unfortunately, some monkey buffer had to take that name and use it with Scott Pilgrim, so now I would just look like a copycat. Not like adding vs. anything is really all that ingenious, so who cares.

We are back in business. I temporarily went down here after an accidental mishap that involved cream cheese, a golem, toothpicks and a bad bushel of ball bearings. Chiefly, that means that I inadvertently clicked ‘delete’ inside of my hosting control panel for the previous version of WordPress, and it wiped out the old database. So here I am, starting a new. It’s going to be slow going, that’s for sure. I will also be redesigning the header and background to reflect more what I am doing now.
End of line.
